Intervalo de Seguridad de Cipermetrina en Guayaba, Psidium guajava L., en Michoacán, México

2019
Respecting the safety interval between the last application of a pesticide and harvest is essential so as not to exceed the maximum residue limit (MRL) established. The aim of the research was to estimate a pre-harvest interval for cypermethrin to be used by producers in the eastern region of the State of Michoacan, Mexico, interested in exporting guava, Psidium guajava L., to the European Union that has a maximum residue limit of 0.05 ppm. In three field experiments, cypermethrin was applied during 2017 according to the pattern used at Juarez, Michoacan, with good agricultural practices. Cypermethrin residue in the fruit was analyzed at different time intervals by gas chromatography coupled to spectrometry. Between 12 and 35 days after application, cypermethrin residue was 0.04 ppm, so the pre-harvest interval was estimated as 35 days between the last application and harvest.
