Stereochemical course of hydrosilylation to the silicon-carbon bond of 1,3-disilacyclobutanes

Abstract Separation, characterization and stereochemistry of cis - and trans -1,3-dimethyl-1,3-diphenyl-1,3-disilacyclobutane ( 1 ) is described. Hydrosilylation of cis - 1 and trans- 1 catalyzed by Pt-catalysts proceeded stereospecifically via a syn -addition, to the corresponding meso - and dl -silanes respectively in almost quatitative yield.
