Monitoring Performance over ISP Links in Route Control System

2014
Multihoming has been employed by end networks to ensure reliability of internet access. This paper makes two important contributions. First, we present a study of the potential improvements in Internet round- trip times (RTTs) and transfer speeds from employing Multihoming route control. Second, focusing on large enterprises, we propose and evaluate a wide-range of route control mechanisms and evaluate their design trade-offs. The main objective of the project is to implement the Multihoming technique on Route performance benefit using ISP to avoid Congestion. It does not require any modification to Internet routing protocols, and relies solely on end network decisions. We address a number of practical issues such as the usefulness of past history to guide the choice of the best ISP link, the impact of sampling frequency on measurement accuracy, and the overhead of managing performance information for a large number of destinations.
