Studying nuclear quark-gluon manifestations using multi-GeV polarized protons
1998
Abstract One of the major challenges in Nuclear Physics today is to arrive at a description of the basis of the strong interactions between nucleons in terms of quantum chromodynamics. The role which a 20 GeV polarized cooled stored beam might play in providing critical test is outlined and some specific experiments are presented. The unique attributes of such a facility are discussed in the context of the proposed Light Ion Spin Synchrotron project.
