Integrating and interpolating from seismic data

2003
A method estimating an integral of function of geophysical data from a set of points, where the function is known, the points being distributed over an n-dimensional domain, the method comprising partitioning the domain into simplexes, where all the vertices of all simplexes are at a location where the function is known, and assuming the function to be a polynomial of order 0 or 1 over each simplex, then integrating this assumed function over each simplex and then summing of each integral. Alternatively the weighted average of the data points can be taken with the weight for each data point related to the data density surrounding that data point. Also disclosed is that instead of performing integration on the assumed function, it can be used to estimate the value of the function at some point.
