Catalytic reburning for NO{sub x} control in advanced coal-based power generation

1996
This paper describes a new NO{sub x} decomposition and selective reduction catalyst system that uses fuel gases, rather than a reagent, such as ammonia, as the reductant. These catalysts are expected to have many applications for new advanced coal-based power generation and for advanced technology retrofits and upgrades of existing power plants. Advanced coal-based technologies for power generation include technologies for new power plants and technologies for power plant retrofits, for technologies using coal directly and for technologies using coal-based synfuels. These advanced coal-based power generation technologies typically share in common the need for NO{sub x} emission control, but significant differences in these technologies require the tailoring of NO{sub x} reduction approaches to achieve the most effective NO{sub x} control for each.
