A study on the height growth of different Eucalyptus species in India
2019
The aim of this paper is to study the height growth of different Eucalyptus species in India using non-linear growth models. This study presents a comparative study among the seven different growth models namely Logistic, Gompertz, Monomolecular, Chapman-Richards (with three and four parameters) and Von-Bertalanffy (with three and four parameters) growth model. Five different Eucalyptus species, namely, E. tereticornis, E. hybrid, E. grandis, E. pelleta and E. Dandeli clones are considered for this study. The data sets of Eucalyptus species are taken from main Agricultural Research Station, University of Agricultural Science, Dharwad under rainfed condition (Patil et al. in Karnataka J Agric Sci 25:92–93, 2012). The best fit model has been selected based on a selection criterion. According to the results, it can be concluded that, the Gompertz growth model is more reasonable over the remaining growth models to describe the growth of Eucalyptus in India.
