Topology Optimization of Sheet Metal Combination Die

This paper deals with the use of finite element analysis (FEA) to investigate the critical parameters of sheet metal forming process to optimize die tool geometry. The study is mainly focused on blanking and deep drawing operation. The study introduces the topology optimization for die design in multifunctional combination die components with aim for enhancing the die tools shapes. The knowledge gained from the finite element solution will help to avoid the process failure or defective products due to the limitations of traditional design die process. Further it help to and reduce the production cost of sheet metal parts.
