espanolEl examen reproductivo del semental engloba una serie de pruebas diagnosticas como son la ecografia del aparato reproductor y la evaluacion de la calidad seminal. La ecografia modo B es la mas empleada y permite estimar la produccion espermatica del semental, asi como el diagnostico de algunas alteraciones reproductivas. No obstante, esta tecnica tiene sus limitaciones. La ecografia Doppler permite un estudio cualitativo y cuantitativo de la vascularizacion testicular, permitiendo diferenciar entre sementales fertiles y subfertiles. EnglishThe breeding soundness evaluation in stallions T encompasses a series of diagnostic tests such as ultrasound of the reproductive tract and evaluation of semen quality. B mode ultrasound is the most widely used technique and it allows an estimation of sperm production in the stallion to be made, as well as for diagnosis of some reproductive abnormalities. However, this technique has its limitations. Doppler ultrasound permits a qualitative and quantitative study of testicular vascularization, allowing for differentiation between fertile and sub-fertile stallions. More recently new diagnostic imaging techniques are being used in the equine reproduction field such as 3D ultrasound, elastography and Ecotext®. Implementation of these diagnostic techniques will improve thedefinitive diagnosis of some reproductive pathologies, without the need for the use of more invasive techniques on the animal.
