Wide angle scattering of fast electrons in morphological studies of polymeric materials using vacuum sprayed carbon replicas

1978
Experiments involving correct and incorrect conditions for the preparation of oriented polymeric materials for electron microscope examinations have been carried out using the method of sublimation and etching in the plasma of a gas discharge with subsequent spraying of carbon replicas. A high level of experimental resolution was found to be obtainable both in microdiffraction analysis (less than a 0·3% deviation from the calculated data) and in regard to morphological patterns, whilst maintaining a sufficiently strict correlation between the X-ray data and the results of electron diffraction analysis.
