Simultaneous Determination of Two Components in Compound Ethylparaben Alcoholic Solution by HPLC

2008
OBJECTIVE: To establish an HPLC method for the simultaneous determination of the two components-ethylhydroxybenzoate(EH) and methylhydroxybenzoate(MH)in compound ethylparaben alcoholic solution.METHODS: The assay was conducted on a Hypersil ODS column with 0.01 mol·L-1 potassium dihydrogen phosphate-methanol-phosphoric acid(50∶50∶0.4) as mobile phase at a flow rate of 8 mL·min-1.The detection wavelength was 255 nm and sample size was 20 μL.RESULTS: The calibration curves were linear over the range from 3.024 to 30.24 μg·mL-1(r=0.999 97) for EH,and from 1.022 to 10.22 μg·mL-1(r=0.999 98) for MH.The average recoveries of EH and MH were 99.45%(RSD=0.48%) and 99.67%(RSD=0.72%),respectively.CONCLUSION: The HPLC method is simple, quick, accurate and well-separated,and it can be used for the simultaneously determination of MH and EH in compound ethylparaben alcoholic solution.
