Land seismic data quality improvements

Petroleum Development Oman LLC (PDO) produces 850 000 b/d from its onshore concession. Production occurs from very shallow (Natih Formation at 550 m) to very deep reservoirs (Barik sandstones at 4400 m). To sustain this production, PDO acquires seismic data utilizing vibroseis. Currently, four 3-D “flexi‐crews” and one 2-D crew are operating. (A flexi‐crew is a 3-D crew that can do 2-D work. When in 2-D mode, costs per kilometer are similar to that of a 2-D crew because higher productivity compensates for the higher costs.).
