Detectoin of subsurface hydrocarbon contamination using various geophysical method

Field measurements had been carried out in the vicinity of a tank station near to Budapest in order to detect possible hydrocarbon contamination using non-invasive geophysical tools. The test site is located outside of the industrial area. A profile with a length of approximately 700 m had been measured located parallel to the tanks, in a quasi-orthogonal position to the direction of groundwater flow. The task was to decide whether any of the tanks and which is a potential source of hydrocarbon contamination. The geological features of the area is determined with fine grain soils: clay, sand and rock powder. The water table was varying between 11-12 m depth during the period of measurement.
