Evaluation of new corn hybrids for resistance to three diseases.

Northern corn leaf blight,Southern corn leaf blight,as well as Gray leaf spot of maize were the most important disease in maize-growing regions,which were caused by filamentous fungi Setosphaeria turcia,Bipolaria maydis and Cercospora zeae-maydis,respectively.In present study,sixteen new corn hybrids were selected for identification and evaluation of resistance to three diseases in the field,by using artificial inoculation method.The results indicated that 4 hybrids,including Pingdan 3,Yunyu 2,HL-66 and Chunxi 06-11,were resistant to all three diseases,and the rest of the corn hybrids showed medium resistant or susceptible to one or two disease(s) of this study.These data provided the important information for their releases in maize-growing region in Yunnan.
