Effects of thermocycling on nanoleakage within resin-dentin interfaces

2004
AIM:To evaluate the effects of thermocyclingon nanoleakage within resin-dentin interfaces.METHODS:Specimen s of three bonding systems(Adper Prompt,U-Bond,Opti Bond)thermocycled or not w ere studied with transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to identify the amount a nd distribution of silver uptake. They were then subjected to image analysis by N IH Image PC.Leakage scores of each restoration were calculated as the percentageof the total area of hybrid layer that was penetrated by silver nitrate. RESULTS:The ratios of the leakage of the experiment and control group s were AP( 9.27%,8.96%),UB(9.62%,8.75%),OB(8.18%,9.20%) respectively. CONCLUSION:All the bonding systems in this study couldn′t resis t nanoleakage;short-term thermocycling on self-etching systems may improve the n anoleakage within resin-dentin interfaces. [
