Camera and display structures for electronic devices

An electronic device (such as a portable computer) comprises a display having layers 52, 60 and a camera with lens structures, wherein the lens structures comprises two portions 126-1, 126-3 and at least one layer of the display is interposed between the two portions of the lens structures. The portions of lens structures may comprise a plurality of lens elements [fig. 8, 127]. The layers of the display may comprise a colour filter layer and a thin-film transistor layer. Also claimed [fig. 21] is an electronic device comprising a display having a colour filter layer 52 and a thin-film transistor layer 60 both of which have an opening. An insert layer 180 having a camera window 182 is mounted over the opening, where there is a camera having lens structures 126 aligned with the camera window. Further claimed [fig. 22] is an electronic device comprising a display that includes a polarizer 62 with an opening 182; a sleeve 150 that passes through the opening; and a camera having lens structures 126 that are at least partly contained within the sleeve.
