Concise Synthesis of 3-Acetoxy-N,N-dialkylbenzo[b]thiophene-2-carboxamides from2-Ethylsulfanylbenzoates

It is demonstrated that otherwise difficult to prepare 3-acetoxythiophenes of type (VI) can be easily synthesized in three steps from 2-ethylsulfanyl benzoates using an interrupted Pummerer reaction of substrates (IV) as the key step.
