An Efficient Dim Target Detection and Tracking Approach in Multi-PRF Radar system

2020
This paper mainly addresses the dim target detection and tracking problems in multiple pulse repetition frequency (MPRF) radar system using the multi-frame track-before-detect (MF-TBD) method. Generally, each measurement frame received by the MPRF radar faces the range and Doppler ambiguities at the specific pulse repetition frequency (PRF) setting. We have proposed a multi-PRF and multi-frame TBD (MPMF-TBD) algorithm in [1], which provides an energy-efficient solution to accomplish the target kinematic state estimation and multi-PRF ambiguity resolution simultaneously. However, this procedure is computationally prohibitive in the practical application. By employing cross-boundary multi-frame integration and parallel processing structure, the multi-PRF and multi-frame integration process is improved, thereby further reducing the computational complexity of MPMF-TBD algorithm. Simulation results demonstrated the efficacy of the proposed algorithm.
