Enhancement of Medium Frequency Hysteresis Loop Measurements Over a Wide Temperature Range

2016
Measuring the high-frequency magnetic losses of high performance, low-loss magnetic materials is a challenging issue due to the parasitic elements in measurement circuits. Performing loss measurements at a specific temperature applies more constraints on the development of measurement setups. In this paper, we focus on hysteresis loops ( $B$ – $H$ loop) measurement technique and we propose a new compensation method aimed to reduce the effect of parasitic elements and to ameliorate the measurement precision. The magnetic losses measured with the thermal method are used as a reference to evaluate the precision of the proposed compensation technique. In order to measure loss at higher temperatures, we propose a calibration method. Measurements are performed between −10 °C and 110 °C. Our approach can be used to develop simple and precise laboratory setups for magnetic measurements.
