Reconfigurable Reflective Metasurface for Linear to Circular Polarization Conversion

A planar reconfigurable reflective metasurface is used as a polarizer. The metasurface allows the conversion of a linear incident wave to a circular one. The proposed structure is composed of meta-atoms incorporating voltage-controlled varactor diodes. By varying the dispersion responses of each meta-atom., the operating frequency can be tailored. Simulations and measurements on a fabricated prototype are presented to validate the concept at microwave frequencies.
