The aim of this study was to evaluate the implementation and performance of transfusion committees in contractor hospitals from Regional Center Blood of Montes Claros / Minas Gerais / Brazil. Ninety two questionnaires were sent to 32 transfusion agencies to be answered by physicians, biochemists and nurses. Adherence of professionals to research accounted for 71.8% of nurses, 68.9% of the biochemical and 62.5% of physicians. The presence of intra-hospitals transfusion committees was reported in 70.7% of services, but in 12.0% of the committees no systematic meetings were held. Among the services that have transfusion committee deployed, 42.7% recorded transfusion complications. In those that do not have committee, only 4% record the events. The routing of Transfusion Complications Sheets (TCSs) was considered by only 21.0% of doctors, 14.0% of nurses and 15.7% of biochemists. It was verified the importance of the Transfusion Committee for Safer of haemotherapic processes, the need for better performance of existing committees and implementation in services that do not have, beyond identify the non-conformities that support management actions of Center Blood.
