Catalytic activity of NiMo supported hollow carbon black in the two stage coal liquefaction

1996
Catalytic activity of NiMo supported on hollow carbon black, which had high hydrogenation activity, was examined in the liquefaction of subbituminous and brown coals by the successive two stages at different temperatures. The oil yields in the liquefaction of Wyoming and Yallourn coals at 380{degrees}C-120 min/440{degrees}C -60 min were 67 wt% and 68 wt%, respectively while the asphaltene yields were 7% and 6.5% respectively. The Hydrogenation at a lower temperature appears to accelerate the oil production in the successive stage of higher temperature. The products at both stages were analyzed to clarify the catalyses of two stage liquefaction using the highly dispersed catalyst.
