DESIGN FAULTS IN COMMONLY USED CARBON DIOXIDE ABSORBERS

1972
SUMMARY The observation that inspired and expired carbon dioxide concentrations during routine anaesthesia using a circle system were higher than expected led to the discovery of absorber failure. This failure was due to a defect in design and occurred with the apparatus produced by two different manufacturers, being sometimes quite difficult to detect.
