Calculation of Carbon Emission Index of Coal-Fired Generating Unit and Analysis on Influencing Factors

2013
Coal-fired power plants are the main source of carbon emission in power sector,so the CO2 emission rate of coal-fired generation unit is the basic foundation for the implementation of low-carbon planning and scheduling.Considering the procurability of operational data of coal-fired power plants in China and based on material balance principle a method to calculate carbon emission index of coal-fired generation unit is proposed.Considering both maneuverability of macro-statistics and accuracy of technical application, the proposed calculation method makes the drafting of macroscopic greenhouse gas inventory unified with microscopic scheduling and operational index, thus the accuracy of drafting greenhouse gas inventory can be improved and basic data can be provided to low-carbon power grid for the implementation of emission reduction index during the planning and operation. The correctness and practicality of the proposed method are verified by case study of an actual coal-fired power plant, and the analysis on its influencing factors shows that the order of carbon emission intensity of coal-fired generation units is not independent on their coal consumption.
