ÇOCUK HAKLARI EĞITIMI PROGRAMININ HAZIRLANMASI VE DEĞERLENDIRIRLMESI: UYGULAMA ÖĞRETMENININ VE KATILIMCILARIN GÖRÜŞLERI

The purpose of children's rights education, is gain neededbasic knowledge, attitudes, social skills. to survive a society which is given human right respect and democratic. This study is based on the preparation, application and assessment of a curriculum forteaching children’s rights. Study aims at assessing the impact of a primary schoolcurriculum on the students’ cognitive and affective development and to evaluate howstudents’ benefit from their rights and liberties. Main objective of children’s rightseducation is to enable children to gain the necessary social behaviors and essentialknowledge for creating a democratic society that is based on respecting human rights.Study is realized in 2011-2012 education year during spring term in Ankara with theparticipation of 5th grade students whose families have middle and lower income levels.Within the context of this study a 11-weeks program which comprises activities to enhanceawareness about children’s rights were implemented. During the implementation period, inline with their ordinary study program, students were requested to participate to variousactivities at least for 2 days in a week (6 hours) about respecting to different cultures,sexual equality, ways to protect themselves about omission and infringements, participatoryrights, awareness about personal rights, safeguarding private life, health and prosperityrights.This study is an action research. Data collected with this study is based on both qualitativeand quantitative methods which comprise “semi-structured student and teacher interviews”,“student diaries”, “participatory observations”, “notes taken by the researcher”, “students’own products”, “videos shot during the classes” and the “student rights awareness scale”which is developed by the researcher herself. These data are analyzed in two phases: duringand after the collection phase. “SPSS for Windows” was used while the assessment ofqualitative data. Qualitative data is analyzed via descriptive analysis and content analysis.The main program for qualitative analysis is developed by focusing on the previous studiesand is considered under four headings which are: participation, protection, survival anddevelopment.As a result of the quantitative assessments done over the curriculum, it is revealed that thestudy group had demonstrated a clear progress on learning of human rights, using theseknowledge as a behavior, developing an awareness on these rights and freedoms. Certaindifferences were seen in certain categories (participation, safeguard, survival,development). A slight difference is seen on students about teaching children about theirrights. Moreover, it is revealed that a great awareness was seen on the study group aboutchildren rights. Arastirmanin amaci ilkogretim duzeyindehazirlanan cocuk haklari egitimi programinin ogrencilerin bilissel ve duyussal alan ozelliklerine katkisini belirlemek, cocuklarin haklarindan ve ozgurluklerinden yararlanma duzeylerine etkisini tespit etmek amaciyla uygulama ogretmeninin ve katilimci ogrencilerin gorusleri alinmistir. Arastirma; 2011-2012 ogretim yili bahardoneminde Ankara il merkezinde, sosyo-ekonomik duzeyleri orta ve ortanin altinda olanailelerin cocuklarinin devam ettigi bir ilkogretim okulunun 5.sinifinda serbest etkinlikderslerinde gerceklestirilmistir. Bu program cercevesinde on bir hafta boyunca calisma grubundaki cocuklara cocuk haklarikonusunda farkindalik yaratmaya yonelik etkinlikler iceren bir program uygulanmistir. Buprogramda okul programina uygun olarak haftada en az 2 (6 ders saati) gun olmak uzereon bir hafta boyunca cocuklara farkli kulturlere ve farkliliklara saygi, toplumsal cinsiyetesitligi, istismar ve ihmale karsi korunma, katilim haklari, kendi haklarinin farkinda olma,ozel hayatin gizliligi, saglik ve refah haklari vb. gibi temalara yonelik kazanimlar cesitlietkinliklerle islenmis, ogrenciler bilinclendirilmeye calisilmistir. Arastirma bir eylem arastirmasidir. Arastirma verileri “yari-yapilandirilmis ogretmen veogrenci gorusmeleri”nin yani sira “ogrenci gunlukleri”, “gozlem”, “arastirmaci notlari”, “ogrenciurunleri”, “bazi derslere ait videolar” ve arastirmaci tarafindan gelistirilen “ cocuk haklarifarkindalik olcegi” olmak uzere farkli nicel ve nitel veri toplama araclariyla toplanmistir.Nitel verilerin analizi isebetimsel analizlerle ve icerik analizi ile gerceklestirilmistir. Nitel verilerin analizindeuygulanan program icin; alan yazninina dayanarak katilim, korunma, yasama ve gelismehaklari olarak dort ana hak kategorisine bolerek bulgularin analizi islemi yapilmistir. Nitel verilerden elde edilen bulgular, kategoriler (katilim, korunma, yasam,gelisme) bakimindan farkliliklar gostermistir. Program uygulamasi sonrasinda ogrencilerincocuk haklari egitimi hakkindaki dusuncelerinde program uygulamasi oncesine goreanlamli bir farklilik saglanmistir. Ayrica program uygulamalari sonrasi calisma grubundakicocuklarin uygulanan program sayesinde cocuk haklari konusunda farkindalik kazanmisolduklari ortaya cikmistir.
