The Army Deployment Simulator with a Data Base of Army Units and Equipment.

Abstract : The description of a flexible computer program that simulates the airlift of army units from supply bases to a threatened area. The program can be used on several types of large-scale computer. Inputs tell the computer where men and materiel are, where they must go, and what units and equipment have priority. Also specified are the number and the capabilities of each type of transport aircraft. The size and weight of each type of equipment (actual Army values) are already incorporated. The program selects efficient routes from the onload bases. Observing the assigned priorities, it allocates the aircraft to onload bases, loads them, dispatches them, and reallocates them for additional cargo. It prepares a graph of the cumulative deliveries over some specified interval. Operations of considerable complexity (an example is given in full detail) can be simulated quickly -- typically with less than 10 minutes computer time. (Author)
