A sociotechnical indicator for safety

As part of its scientific and technological monitoring program and in connection with probabilistic safety assessments and human reliability, Electricite de France`s (EdF`s) research and development division (DER) has, since 1991, identified indicators as an emerging and even critical subject of state-of-the-art monitoring. Bibliographical and exploratory studies have been organized since 1991. The objective of EdF-DER`s work is threefold: to test a number of existing methodologies, to develop an overall approach for the definition and the use of indicators in nuclear power plants (NPPs), and to position EdF research relative to that done abroad.
