Slot and EBG-Loaded Compact Quad Band-Notched UWB Antenna

2021
In this paper, a quad band-notched ultra-wideband monopole antenna design is proposed. The quad band-notch design is achieved by etching a pair of π-shaped slots on the radiating patch and by a pair of EBG cells coupled on both sides of the feed line. The antenna with this arrangement occupies a 28 × 30 mm2 surface area, producing notch frequencies at 3.5 GHz, 4.2 GHz, 5.7 GHz, and 9.1 GHz with an impedance bandwidth of 3–11. 4 GHz for VSWR < 2. The proposed notch frequencies at WiMAX (3.5 GHz) and WLAN (5.7 GHz) are produced by embodying slots on the radiating patch, whereas symmetrical EBG cells on both sides of the feed line create location tracking applications for emergency services (4.2 GHz) and radio allocation bands (9.1 GHz). A prototype is developed and described for validation. There is a considerable significant accuracy between both the simulated and measured values.
