On Fracture Mechanism of Specimens in the "Brazilian Test" Scheme

The fracture of a specimen loaded according to the "Brazilian test" has been studied with the use of the strength criterion with respect to the maximum shear stresses. A comparison made between the simulation results and the experimental data showed that the criterion proposed adequately describes the process of fracture.
