Early orthodontic treatment

1999 
Today orthodontists in the United States tend to treat much earlier. During an early treatment phase, removable appliances are used to correct the gross malocclusion. After a subsequent retention-observation phase the remaining orthodontic anomalies are corrected using fixed appliances. In this review article the advantages and disadvantages of early orthodontic treatment are evaluated.
