Mrsa pbp2', detection of mrsa infection and synthetic peptide therefor

1992
PURPOSE:To detect methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus with a simple method in high sensitivity by using a new synthetic peptide immunologically reactive with an antibody against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. CONSTITUTION:MRSA(methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) or its disintegrated product is detected by using a peptide such as the peptide of formula I to formula IV, etc., a peptide having amino acid residues incorporated in the peptide sequence, a peptide obtained by substituting an amino acid residue in the above peptide sequence with other amino acid or a peptide containing at least a part of the above peptide sequence, composed of <=32 amino acid residues and having immunological reactivity with antibody to MRSA-PBP2' (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus penicillin-bonded protein 2'). Concretely, the above peptide is brought into contact with a specimen and the presence of MRSA antibody is detected by the formation of an antigen-antibody bonded material. The presence of the antibody-antigen bonded material can be detected e.g. by radioimmunoassay.
