Comparison on the efficacy of different extubation time after artificial nasolacrimal duct implantation

2018
Objective To compare the efficacy of different extubation time after implantation of artificial nasolacrimal duct. Methods A prospective randomized single-blind comparision clinic experiment. The data of 42 eyes of 40 cases with nasolacrimal duct obstruction were collected and they were treated with lacrimal duct probing combined with reverse implantation of artificial nasolacrimal duct. All patients after surgery were randomly divided into two groups: the time of extubation in group A was 3 months after operation, and 6 months in group B after operation. The follow-up time was 12 months. The success rate of surgery and complications were observed and analyzed. Results The total effective rate was 83.33%, and in group A and group B were 85.71%and 80.95% respectively. The difference was not significant between the two groups. The incidence of complications in group A and B were 38.10% and 85.71% respectively. The difference was statistically significant between the two groups(P=0.001). Conclusion Artificial nasolacrimal duct implantation is a safe and effective method for lacrimal duct obstructive diseases. The efficacy of 6 months and 3 months extubation were similar, but wear the tube is kept for a long time may bring more complications.
