The invention discloses a method and a system for monitoring the vibration amplitude of an electric wire tower. The method comprises the following steps of: S1, acquiring an acceleration signal relative to the electric wire tower through an accelerometer sensor and acquiring an angular speed signal relative to the ground through a gyroscope respectively in a preset time interval; S2, calculating a strap-down matrix on the basis of a digital signal processor (DSP) according to the angular speed signal, and extracting an attitude angle of the electric wire tower according to the strap-down matrix so as to convert the acceleration signal relative to the electric wire tower into an acceleration signal relative to the ground; S3, generating the vibration amplitude of the electric wire tower by performing secondary integration on the acceleration signal relative to the ground; and S4, transmitting the vibration amplitude of the electric wire tower to a data analysis center through a wireless network and/or universal serial bus (USB) interface so as to monitor the vibration amplitude of the electric wire tower in real time. The technical scheme is high in accuracy and is intelligentized.
