MHT andML Approaches toMarine Mammal Detection

Thispaperapplies target-tracking technology to theprocessing ofmammalvocalizations orclicks, withthegoal of identifying thenumberofmarinemammalsina surveillance region. Thisproblem hasdirect application tomarinemammal mitigation efforts inthecontext ofactive sonaroperations. In earlier work,we documented ourresults intheanalysis of hydrophone datasets withdetection processing anda nearest- neighbor tracking solution. Hereweworkwiththesamedatasets andcompareresults withmoresophisticated approaches: MHT- basedsequential processing basedon theMHT,andbatch processing basedontheMLPMHT.
