Synthesis of (3 - and e - Copper Phthalocyanme in Solvent 160S

2004
Anew solvent was used for synthesizing β -copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) and e -CuPc instead of trichlorobenzen or aikylbenzene. The new solvent was commercial solvent 160S, consisting of dichlorotoluene as main component, which has the advantages of lower price and higher recovery ratio. β -CuPc was obtained with a purity w(CuPc) over 96% and a yield over 75%(based on phthalic anhydride), e -CuPc was synthesized directly in solvent 160S by the addition of a certain amount of e -CuPc crystal seeds and CuPc sulphonamide derivatives(aniline and m-toluidine). The amount of e -CuPc crystal seeds and CuPc sulphonamide derivatives was 15% and 20% by weight based on phthalic anhydride respectively.
