A method of determining a mechanical parameter (P) of a work (1) comprising a wall (3), a damage of the structure having passed the wall of an initial shape (4a) at a damaged form (4b), the method comprising the steps of: a) making measurements to characterize geometrically an outer surface (4c) of the damaged form; b) modeling a test body (6) comprising a surface (6a) substantially identical to the outer surface; c) modeling a test wall (7) comprising a portion (7a) substantially identical to the initial shape form; d) calculating a distorted test wall (8) and a state of stress-related deformation, the deformation (8a) of the test wall being caused by a relative displacement (9) of the test body and the test wall , to provide the test deformed wall a substantially identical outer surface to the outer surface of the damaged as characterized in step a); and e) mechanical calculation of the deformed wall test obtained in step d).
