A VIEW FROM THE ROAD
1990
This paper briefly reviews what has taken place over the past three years in research concerning traffic congestion and suburban activity centers. Specific areas addressed are cost and benefit sharing; travel behavior; parking; auto occupancy rates; peak spreading and flex-time; travel patterns; and design standards. In conclusion, it is stated that there is today deeper recognition of a need for organizations and new institutions to control the major activity centers, and that we still need both a vision of what we want and creative solutions.
