Influence of acid treatment on mechanical properties of lignites

The dependences of the strength on the moisture content of the Moscow Basin and Kansk-Achinsk Basin coals treated with hydrochloric acid show that the sharp growth in their strength in comparison with natural coals and the qualitative changes in the nature of the relations are mainly due to the growth in the hydrophilic properties of the internal surfaces.
