Clinical Investigation of short Q-T Interval Syndrome

2009
Objective To investigate the clinical significance of the short Q-T interval syndrome. Methods Analyzing retrospectively on the clinical materials of 15patients with short Q-T interval syndrome. Results Of the 15 subjects (9 male and 6 female),there were 4 cases with brain hemorrhage,5,acute myocardial infarction,2,cor pulmonale and heart failure,2,type 2 diabetes with multiple organ failure (MOF),and 2,cerebral contusion and laceration. All their Q-T interval meet the diagnostic criteria of the short Q-T interval (Q-T320mm,Q-TQTp×88%,QTc≤340mm). Although with emergency treatment, they all died,6 cases died from ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation, and the rest, slow ventricular escape rhythm. The laboratory test indicated that the electrolytes criterion were normal in all patients,8 cases had hypoxemia and 10,acidosis. Conclusion For patients with organic heart disease, the reducing Q-T interval is a serious ECG phenomenon, happening on the deathbed.
