Nitrofullerene CT complexes. A new family of chiral fullerene derivatives

2001
A series of new hexanitro[60]fullerene (HNF) CT complexes has been prepared with alkaloids of a cinchona group, as optically active (chiral) donors. Additionally, we have obtained HNF complexes with quinoline and quinuclidine, which are active electron-donor fragments of alkaloid molecules. 8 The products, low-conducting solids (10 - ○S/cm) with a strong EPR signal and a characteristic absorption in the UV-VIS region, have also been examined with FTIR and MS. The EPR spectra have appeared as a singlet line (g = 2.0030, line width 0.29 mT) or more complex signals (g = 2.0031 - 2.0035, line width 0.28-0.31 mT).
