Manufacture and Application of the Pre-contoured Stator Downhole Motor

A new type of downhole motor power section technology introduced in this paper uses pre-contoured stator.It illustrates the core structure,work principle and technical characteristic of the production.After probe of the configuration characteristic and problems in machining process,some improvements were to do for enhance control of key points.Further,the design and technical art were made more perfectly,and the motor's technical parameter was determined in experiment.The running data on-site showed that a downhole motor combined with pre-contoured stator provided more power and extended working life.The running life of the new type stator is up to more than 500 hours.Finally,research experiences were summarized,which provide some suggestions for developing this new technology.
