Multidimensional sensor for gas analysis

Abstract This paper describes a gas sensor system that delivers a set of signals for each gas applied. This signal spectrum can be evaluated by means of pattern recognition in order to identify the gas and measure its concentration. This sensor principles is demonstrated by means of a set of four MOS gas sensors with layers of different types of zeolite filters. The experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of this concept. Advantages and disadvantages are discussed.
