Noise-removing algorithm for fluorescein angiogram of diabetic retinopathy

2011
Diabetic retinopathy is present in nearly all persons who have had diabetes eventually suffer. Fluorescein angiography is an important method to examine the diabetic retinopathy. Aiming at the contamination of the fluorescein angiogram by salt-and-pepper noise and the blurred by the diabetic cataract, an efficient noise adaptive fuzzy switching median (NAFSM) filter was used to remove the noise as well as enhance the fluorescein angiogram. The image processing result shows that the NAFSM filter is able to suppress salt-and-pepper noise, at the same time preserving fine image details, edges and textures, which is an efficient noise-removing algorithm for fluorescein angiogram of diabetic retinopathy.
