Dam concrete prepared using setretarder superplasticizer with low alkali content

Dam concrete of Jinping hydropower station was prepared using setretarder superplasticizer with low alkali content.Its workability,mechanical property and durability were investigated in this paper.To avoid alkali-aggregate reaction,the alkali content of setretarder superplasticizer was controlled equal or lesser than 0.4%.Concrete workability met the constructing requirement.Compressive strength at 180 days had a good correlation with water to cementitious materials ratio.Frost resistance and impermeability all met the designed requirement.Setretarder superplasticizer with low alkali content was successfully used in arch dam construction of Jinping hydropower station.Test results and engineering application prove that the setretarder superplasticizer with low alkali content has a good adaptability with moderate heat cement.
