Measurement of the magnetic moment of the short-lived β-emitter 28Al polarized by means of the overhauser effect in Li metal

Abstract A new dynamic polarization technique by means of the Overhauser effect in ametal has been employed in the magnetic moment measurement of a short-lived β-emitter. The magnetic moment of 28 Al (I π = 3 + , T 1 2 = 136 s ) has been determined as |μ( 28 Al )| = 3.242 ± 0.005 nm .
