Effect of. gamma. emission on the cross section for transuranium-element production in reactions induced by heavy ions

Numerical calculations have been excited out to determine how the cross sections for the production of transuranium isotopes are affected by the competition of ..gamma.. emission with neutron evaporation and the fission of the compound nuclei formed in reactions induced by heavy ions. The ..gamma.. emission broadens the excitation functions for (HI, xngg) reactions and shifts their maximum to a higher energy. It also increases the absolute values of the cross sections for radiative capture of heavy ions by heavy target nuclei have been calculated.
