Directional measurements of underground muon flux for astronomical applications
2019
Investigation of the cosmic ray’s origin is an important and actual problem. We propose a method based on the observation of high energetic muons measured in the underground of Slanic Prahova salt mine. Using a directional scintillation detector the trajectories of muons are determined and based on that the origin of the primary particle is estimated. Detailed Monte-Carlo simulation shows that at energies larger than 150 GeV the direction of the muons is not much different than the primary’s particle ones.
