Luminescence of manganese(II) in 24 phosphate glasses

1984
Abstract Emission spectra, long lifetimes and surprisingly high quantum efficiencies were observed at 300 K in phosphate glasses with modifyers (such as lithium, magnesium, aluminium, zinc, barium, lanthanum and lead) containing highly varying manganese(II) concentrations. The strong shift toward the red at high Mn(II) content indicates formation of pairs and clusters (possibly connected with antiferromagnetic coupling).
