Studies on the Essential Oil of Rodgersia Aesculifolia Batal

Rodgersia aesculifolia Batal is an effective broad-spectrum antibacterial and antivirialChinese medicinal herb.An essential oil was obtained in 0.02～0.03% yield by extraction of the dry root-powderof Rodgersia aesculifolia Batal with ether.By means of GC/MS/DS analysis,23 chemicalconstituents were identified.Successive extraction of the oli with 5% NaHCO_3 and 5% NaOHsolution gave neutral,NaHCO_3-soluble and NaOH-soluble fractions.Three compounds wereisolated from the neutral part and four from the NaOH-soluble part.Their structure were con-firmed by IR,UV,MS and 1~H NMR spectra.Other nine compounds were isolated from theNaHCO_3-soluble part and identified with GC analysis.
