Um Guardião em Teias: Caminhos e Sentidos na Criação do Arquivo Público do Pará

O Arquivo Publico do Estado do Para (APEP) tornou-se ao longo de sua historia um dos principais guardioes da memoria sociocultural inscrita na pena do poder publico que gerenciou, desde o seculo XVII, o antigo Estado do Maranhao e Grao-Para, no norte do Brasil. Fundado em 16 de abril de 1901 com a funcao de recolher e proteger documentos historicos relevantes a historia da Amazonia e do Estado do Para, o APEP nasceu no bafejar da modernidade, no avanco das ideias republicanas e nas relembrancas da concepcao de cidadania promulgada pela Revolucao Francesa. Nesse enredo, o ensaio reconstitui sentidos, caminhos, funcoes e acoes dessa instituicao publica, sustentando-se nas teias do enlace entre Historia, Memoria, Patrimonio e Arquivologia em continuo refazer de saberes letrados e interesses politicos no mundo amazonico. The Public Archive of the State of Para (APEP) has become throughout its history one of the main guardians of the socio-cultural memory registered by the government which since the seventeenth century was in charge of the old state of Maranhao and Grand Para in Northern Brazil. Founded on April 16th, 1901 with the function of collecting and protecting relevant historical documents on the history of the Amazon and the state of Para, the APEP was born in the aftermath of modernity, in the midst of thriving republican ideas and the recollection of the concept of citizenship promulgated by the French Revolution. In this context, this article reconstitutes the senses, paths, functions and actions of this public institution, held up in the webs in which History, Memory, Heritage and Archivology intricate, in a continuous remaking of knowledge and political interests in the Amazonian world.
